Hi!
My company was sold last July, and I've had one health issue after another. In January I was diagnosed with DCIS in the right breast. During surgery, they found another large invasive tumor. I've had 3 surgeries since March 2007 and started chemotherapy 3 days ago. I have radiation after that. I was doing some part time teaching, but with the chemo, sleep apnea, fibromyalgia and anemia, it is too much. I need ideas of who I can contact for work at home (part time) opportunities. I have experience in basic accounts receivable and account clearing for insurance, customer service, and am a certified teacher with an extensive background in tutoring.
Can you suggest who I can contact?
Thanks!

Career Coach Comment:
You’ve really had a tough haul and I hope that your chemo is going well and that it will be over soon. You have many skills and with technology you can certainly find ways to earn money without leaving your house.
There are many home based businesses advertised that are not legitimate. I have researched three resources for you to explore. They are:
• Independent Home Workers Alliance (IHA.com) – This is a database of over 1000 jobs. There are many jobs in accounting and bookkeeping. The monthly fee is $14.88 with a $9.99 registration fee.
• Hbwm.com is another site started by Debra Cohen who can also be reached at homremedies@aol.com.
• Homejobsdirectory.com offers opportunities to participate in on-line focus groups and surveys and get paid.
Reach out to everyone you know to network for accounting, bookkeeping and phone and e-mail tutoring work. Be specific in what you can do and ask for referrals of small business owners and sole proprietors in particular. Ask your friends and family to refer you to accountants who may have extra work they can outsource to you. Good luck and please let us know how you’re doing.
Take care,
Julie

Hi, I have worked for the same company for the past 13 years and the past 10 years as a Manager/Operations Officer. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January 2006 and than diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in July 2008 and how I am unable to work and waiting to see if I quality for Long Term Disability with my company. Right now I am not receiving any pay and this has caused a great financial stress on me and my family. I was looking for some kind of work I could do from home to help out financially, but it seems like everything I find has some kind of catch and you have to pay so much money to get started. I have always taken great pride in my work. With only having a high-school diploma I worked very hard to make advancements within my company. Now I feel that I have lost so much not being able to work. If you have any suggestions that would put me on the right path to a legitimate job that I could do from home I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
