Career Management,
Work/Life/Cancer Balance
I've been laid off as part of restructuring and cost-cutting at my current company. I've been given 2 months "transition time" and 4 months severance as well as 4 months of Cobra coverage (via a lump sum payout). I heard that I can effectively "pause" my workforce transition out of the company and get onto medical disability while I am on active treatment, which I currently am on, for metastatic breast cancer. I was told that I can "re-start" my workforce transition when I complete treatment. However, being metastatic this will never happen. What are my options here if I want to find a new job but want to minimize the amount of time I may not have a job/have health insurance?
