Job Search
What I do is complex and doesn't fit into a good job title . I want to find a job preferably with a developer to
head up real estate acquisitions and can do real estate dispositions , Joint venture deals, can raise equity for projects and also do business development for commercial real estate . I can travel unlimited . I don't want to be an analyst, property manager or real estate agent. How do I summarize that into a title and get the right jobs coming to me? How do I find the companies looking for someone like me? Most of what I am seeing is not in my area. Idealistically I would like to be based in Austin and travel but would consider relocation to LA or Orange County area providing the money is there.

Hi Janice,
Thanks for writing to us. I've sent your question over to our coaches who will be in touch soon. In the meantime, would you be willing to consider flexible work options? That might help solve your relocation problem. I would recommend checking out Flexjobs (https://www.flexjobs.com/), it is a membership-based service, but if you enter the code CANCER you will get 50% off.
I hope that this is helpful. Our coaches will be in touch soon.

Hi Janice,
It sounds as if you are just describing commercial real estate development responsibilities. What I would do is put the key phrases you listed in your question to us in the headline on your document. Commercial real estate acquisitions & dispositions - business development - joint venture deals.
As for finding companies, I am sure you are aware that you need to create a target list of real estate companies, and network with the key decision makers on LinkedIn and through your professional network. Following companies is proving to be the more effective strategy for job search versus just applying for posted jobs. In part because so many jobs are not posted any longer because it is not a successful method for companies to find qualified applicants.
Finally I wouldn't get too caught up in fitting into job titles. Marketing yourself is really more about the conversations you have with perspective employers about how you can contribute to their goals.
Good luck!
Julie
