I'm 18 years old and I'm moving from Texas to play volleyball and continue my education in New York. My whole life I've know that I'm suppose to help people. I can make people smile and for some crazy reason I can make people feel better, happier. I love making people happy when they feel as if their is no hope. I want to be involved in cancer patients lives, but not medically as in taking blood or giving medicine, nothing in that field. I want to be their everyday motivator, visiting them and helping them stay positive, distracting them from being sad, playing games with them, surprising them, the list goes on and on. Just being a very positive happy person to always be around and help them with making whatever time they have left absolutely joyous. Is there such a job? I understand that this type of career will be sad, but I know this is what I have to do and what I want to do. I want to make however much time they have on this eath the best.

Cancer and Careers Staff Comment:
Hi Cassidy,
That's wonderful that you want to help cancer patients! We provide free resources and support for patients and survivors to help them get back to work, but unfortunately we don't have resources for people looking to work with cancer patients and survivors. I would recommend checking out your local cancer centers or American Cancer Society to see if they have volunteer opportunities to start getting involved.
Good luck!
Sarah, Manager of Programs, Cancer and Careers
