I am a single mom with a 15 1/2 year old son at home. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in March 2010 and I am currently in remission and need to find work. I have been working with staffing agencies since then. I have in the past year only worked for about 4 months since May 2011. I am actively job hunting but not getting much luck all around. I do administrative/clerical/receptionist work. I have been drawing unemployment since my last assignment ended in Jan. 2012. I really need work and really need some kinda insurance also. I am currently living at my folks house with my son. Not sure what I can do or what else I can do to find work.

Hi Kathy,
I am so sorry it's been tough for you in your job search. You say that you have been actively looking however you haven't said what exactly you have been spending time doing in your search.
I am sure that you know that statistically, 80% of jobs are not advertised and considered to be in the "hidden job market." This means that reaching out to your personal network to grow your network and using LinkedIn is the most effective way to find job openings.
Would you mind writing back to tell me how you have been doing to find a job?
Thanks so much!
Take care,
Julie
