I'm not sure if my situation is unique, but I can't seem to find a job that pays more than ten bucks an hour. I am a two year AML Leukemia survivor and I can't seem to get back on my feet. Two days after my transplant my boyfriend and caretaker at the time kicked me out, leaving me nearly homeless. Thankfully, a friend let me stay with him and pay him a little rent but our lease is ending soon and I have no prospects or family to help me out. I'm a single lady and found this site by accident. I don't want to be homeless and have a lot of credit card debt. I'm not ill (thankfully) but need some dental work which I can't afford. I feel ready to go back into the working world. I live in Ohio and work in call centers mostly. I did training for a long time and was also a supervisor of call centers. I don't have a degree and sadly, am in no place to go to school full time. I am still attending school, however even after battling three tuition freezes due to my cancer situation. Do I have to start at rock bottom again making ten dollars an hour? Can I send someone my resume to look at or something? I am on disability but it's not enough for me to live on. I barely pay my bills with it. I'm open to any suggestions. Please help.

Brooke,
The jobs you have looked at for $10 per hour seam under priced for your experience. And I am not surprised to see that as a Call Center worker.
Though you don't have a degree, you should be able to market yourself as a Supervisor or perhaps a Trainer. You need a dynamite resume and a good persuasive Presentation or Introduction. Then, you need to get out and network with the people who can hire you.
Prioritize your needs. Dental works is not as important as finding a place to live and getting help with your debt. Perhaps you can find a room to rent. Some times an elderly person has a room to rent because they prefer not living alone in their house. It feels safer to have someone in the house. Town Social Service department can probably help identify someone. They may have additional resources to help with housing and advocates.
There are organizations or advocates who can help you negotiate small regular payments to those you owe money to. Some of the cancer organizations provide financial assistance to cancer patients. Check Google for such organizations. Here are a few I came across: www.cancercare.org, www.cancerfac.org, www.cancer.net,
managecancesources/financial-support.aspx, cancer.net,
https://www.patientresource.com/financial_resources.aspx
I have not personally worked with the resources above, so check them out.
I hope this is a helpful start for you.

I already went to all of the areas on this site, but thank you. Also, my resume is great. I even emailed someone from this site a week ago with my resume to see if there were any issues with it, and no one has responded. I volunteered at a place for a year to help close a resume gap but now it looks like I'm all over the place career wise. I am looking for a call center supervisor or trainer job and no one is calling me. I've also applied to many other things with no luck. In the very few interviews I go on they feel I'm overqualified. I bring a portfolio of my work with me when I go and it seems to not get me a call back. I'm stumped and feeling .... isolated.

Hi Brooke,
We received your resume on Monday, our career coach is reviewing it and will get back to you with feedback soon, it usually takes a week or two, so if you haven't heard back from her within the next week please let us know.
It doesn't sound like you're looking for a telecommuting job, but it might be worth checking out Flexjobs.com, it's a job service that hand screens all of the jobs posted. It is subscription based, but if you enter the code CANCER at the checkout you'll get 50% off.
Hope this is helpful.
Best,
Sarah, Manager of Programs, Cancer and Careers
