Hi Team, since i am not able to work a regular schedule or even substantive hours, I am looking to freelance using my job skills, which happen to be job development! i need to market myself and a flyer in order to get a modest goal of one person a month, right now as i am still not 100% from my treatment. Is there someone that can help me with this? I am willing to volunteer with your organization or another one to help build some momentum. I just finished helping someone get a job successfully, however all the fires on the west coast are affecting it. thanks so much in advance.

Hi Ellen,
Thanks for writing to us. It sounds like you have some wonderful professional skills to offer in the job development field and that you have already found some success in that area! It’s great that you’re taking time to evaluate and think critically about the best path forward to market yourself and further develop your brand. Unfortunately, our organization doesn’t have any volunteer opportunities available right now, but I've sent your question to our career coaches for their insight on of you might be able to promote your services and build that momentum.
In the meantime, I would suggest checking out the following resources:
I’d also encourage you to register for our free upcoming suite of job search related webinars which will offer a lot of great tips and advice. Job Search Strategy During COVID-19 is happening today, but we also another one this Thursday focused on resumes and another next week that will take you through the nuts and bolts of networking, which might be particularly useful in your situation. Information and registration can be found here: https://www.cancerandcareers.org/en/covid19/virtual-programs
I also want to mention that our financial assistance grants program is accepting applications right now. This program is providing one-time $500 grant for cancer patients and survivors experiencing financial challenges to use toward bills, technology, skill development or training. For more information and to apply: https://www.cancerandcareers.org/en/covid19/financial-assistance-grants
I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at cancerandcareers@cew.org or 646-929-8023.
A coach will be in touch soon!
Kind regards,

Good Morning, Ellen,
What a unique skillset you have, and what a marketable one. I have experience working on contract for Outplacement firms and think that may be a route you will want to explore. Google Outplacement Firms in your area and you will find several. Also, check with your federal / state Career Onstop Centers, because they frequently have job developers. Perhaps you could assist in that effort. And, Goodwill Industries and other Not for Profit charities sometimes have job services for their clients. Check with local ones to see if they have a need for a part time job developer. Lastly, I noticed that both Indeed.com and LinkedIn recently posted positions for resume writers for their organizations. Dig in there and see if those opportunities are still available.
I applaud you for your creative approach to staying in the market during your recovery. With that initiative and drive, I am certain you will dind a good fit.
Best of luck in your search and blessings on your swift and full recovery.
