I haven finished my chemo for NHL Mantle Cell Lymphoma and still have to do radiation. I work as a Nursing Assistant at a Long Term Care facility, due to the high risk of infection my Doctor would like me to stay out until I finish treatment in April. I have to pay my share of health insurance now and after the 22nd my health insurance would change to cobra which I cant afford. Could I sign up for health insurance on the Marketplace which open enrollment ends 2/15/15. What can I do to keep coverage I can afford ?

Hi Karin,
Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you may qualify for a special enrollment period to obtain health insurance through the marketplace outside of open enrollment. You can visit healthcare.gov to see what is available to you and price out some plans. I would recommend joining our webinar this Wednesday at 1:00 PM ET on Health Insurance Options to learn more. The webinar will be presented by a cancer rights attorney who will cover various health insurance options and take questions at the end. You can learn more and register here: http://www.cancerandcareers.org/en/community/events/webinar-insurance
If you aren't able to join the webinar live, we will be posting a recording of it to our website by the end of the week.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best,
Sarah, Manager of Programs, Cancer and Careers
