Earlier this year we piloted our Professional Development Micro-Grants program — and we were amazed at the positive response!
We received an overwhelming number of applications during the brief submission period. Many of you shared your powerful, moving and inspiring stories of how cancer has impacted your work and your goals — as well as your strategies for getting back on track, or even ahead, in the job world. We wish we could have accepted every application, however we were able to offer seven survivors micro-grants for professional development, including certification courses and career coaching.
Here is what one of our recipients had to say about the difference the grant made for her:
“The boost of confidence was significant — someone heard my story and read about my struggle, and validated it. It is not easy to struggle with the loss of identity that comes with a non-consensual career change resulting from treatment. While I hope that the treatment-related impacts on my work are not permanent, having a goal and work that I can accomplish now really boosts my morale.”
Because of this success, we are excited to announce that we are offering this program again for 2016!
The application-submission period is open now until Monday, November 30, 2015.
Micro-grant recipients will have from February 1 until December 31, 2016, to participate in and complete their professional development.
