Hello! My name is Sheyla Jimenez and I am so excited to join Cancers and Careers as a summer intern. I am a sophomore in college attending SUNY Brockport studying social work. My previous work experience includes college admissions, customer service and education.
I live in The Bronx, where I was born and raised, but I am a proud Latina from the Dominican Republic. Growing up I’ve always had a passion for making change and creating opportunities for all. Seeing the work Cancer and Careers does and how the team works together during my interview really inspired me to join the organization.
I'm beyond grateful to have this internship opportunity, to meet new people and be a part of a positive impact. I will be working part-time with CAC for the summer on projects across the organization from using my Spanish language fluency to review captions on webinars and do outreach for Pregúntale a los Expertos to helping to clean up the email database and doing prospect research for the fundraising team. I am looking forward to using my skills to help find the best resources for the Cancer and Careers community and to being a great addition to the team while we strive towards our goals.
