Hola! My name is Maite, and I am thrilled to join Cancer and Careers as the Senior Program Coordinator. In this role, I support a variety of programs, events, and projects in English and Spanish as well as manage the Resume Review Service, assist with the Technology Assistance Program, and coordinate our publication library.
My journey here has been shaped by all sorts of experiences, starting with my time at the University of South Florida, where I earned my BA in Anthropology and Women’s & Gender Studies. That academic path opened doors to some awesome international experiences that have impacted who I am today including working on sexual education programs in the Dominican Republic, teaching English in Spain, and helping immigrant students in the U.S. as an ESL aid. Each adventure has been a blast and has taught me so much about different cultures and communities.
Joining CAC is really special to me because my father is a cancer patient. Helping him made me realize how much support others need, and working for a nonprofit like CAC has always been a dream of mine.
When I’m not working, I enjoy life to the fullest. I am a Caribbean girl at heart, and nothing beats watching the sunset from the beach. Traveling is a passion of mine and I love learning about different cultures (hence the Anthropology degree). I’m also a huge foodie and will work for good vegan food. Dancing is my love language—I can't resist moving when I hear a good beat. Finally, I seriously wish it was summer all year round!
