There is still time to purchase individual or family health insurance plans through the marketplace! Open Enrollment for 2016 runs through January 31. After January 31, 2016, you will not be able to buy a health insurance plan through the marketplace for the rest of the year (unless you have a life-changing event — e.g., you have a child, get married or lose other coverage — or you apply and qualify for Medicaid) and you could be subject to a penalty for not obtaining minimum essential coverage during the enrollment period.
It is important to understand your protections under the Affordable Care Act when navigating the marketplace. Selecting the appropriate plan can be essential if your cancer diagnosis is accompanied by expenses such as repeat doctor visits, prescription drugs and lab tests.
We recognize that health insurance and the ACA can be as confusing as they are important. If you need help understanding any of it, join us Wednesday, January 13, at 1:00 PM ET, for our free webinar on Health Insurance Options. You’ll learn about existing options, changes in healthcare, consumer protections and more! Click here to register.
