We’re still basking in the afterglow of our fifth annual Midwest Conference on Work & Cancer, held just a couple of weeks ago, on March 23rd. It was a terrific day, filled with in-depth learning and discussion on critical topics, plus valuable professional and personal connections.
It was our largest Midwest Conference to date, topping out at 177 attendees — nearly 100 more than were at our inaugural Chicago conference, five years ago! The mix of both new and returning guests came from far and wide (11 states total) to engage in conversations on everything from working through treatment and disclosure to self-confidence in the workplace and health insurance.
This year was also a year of “firsts.” It was the first time we offered travel scholarships for a regional conference, which resulted in the participation of 10 amazing scholars who were able to share in this day of knowledge and community building. One of our scholarship recipients said, “It was an incredible day of learning, so much I was not aware of and met so many wonderful people! The presenters were awesome, so very knowledgeable. I gained so much through this conference & I hope to be able to point others in this direction and help in whatever way I can!”
It was also the first time we had a film crew at this event, capturing everything in real time. We’re excited to be able to show you a glimpse of the day through this angle, so stay tuned for the sizzle reel!
If this year’s conference is any indication of what’s in store for 2019, we can’t wait!
A huge thank-you to our sponsors for their generous support, and to our five community partners who helped spread the word!
