Last Friday, June 21st, we hosted our 14th annual National Conference on Work & Cancer virtually. With our turnout since the program began in 2011, over 770 participants joined us throughout the day. We were delighted to welcome a diverse group of attendees, including patients, survivors, caregivers, HR professionals, nonprofit and healthcare workers, managers, coworkers, advocates, friends, and family members from both across the country and around the world.
This year's speakers included oncologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and employment experts, offering diverse perspectives on work and cancer. The day featured a combination of presentations and panel discussions across four sessions, covering topics such as navigating work after a cancer diagnosis, effective job-search techniques, obtaining the best support from your medical team, activating employer support, self-care, emotional well-being, and more.
We are thrilled to receive positive feedback from attendees, including comments about the interactive features: "Having direct access to top experts in the cancer world is a great thing. Being able to ask real-time questions and get answers is so helpful! Thank you for all you do!"
In the program’s fourth year, our Technology Assistance Program provided 40 laptops to cancer patients and survivors who don’t have access to a reliable device and would be otherwise unable to attend the Conference. (If you are interested in being notified about future Technology Assistance Programs, click here.) To further our commitment to accessibility, we also provided real-time closed captioning throughout the day for all attendees.
If you were unable to join us for the Conference, please check out our upcoming live Balancing Work & Cancer Webinars where you’ll find deep dives on many of the issues explored during the day. We also offer these sessions on our video archive to replay at your convenience. In addition, next week registration opens for our virtual West Coast Conference on Work & Cancer happening on Saturday, October 19th.
And as always, our conference would not be made possible without the incredibly generous support of our sponsors.
