Every year, we are amazed by how many patients, survivors, caregivers, HR/ nonprofit/healthcare professionals, managers, coworkers, advocates, friends and family members come together to join our National Conference on Work & Cancer from across the country – and even the globe!
This year’s 12th annual event brought together over 660 attendees from 48 U.S. states (plus D.C.) to hear signature sessions such as The Doctor’s Perspective and Balancing Work & Cancer as well as our new additions: Self-Care: Practical Approaches at Work & Beyond and Engaging the Experts: Career Coaches.
The day was packed with information from experts in their fields on managing treatment side-effects at work, disclosure decisions, legal rights, communication strategies, self-care, job-search, career change, the employment landscape and more.
While we look forward to the day that we can safely return to in-person programs, we were once again reminded of how powerful this online community can be. The chat was vibrant with attendees forming new connections and offering their own experiences while the Q&A box allowed participants to ask questions to speakers and staff. Polls kept the day interesting and there was even a fun chat conversation about what we all ate for lunch…I’m still thinking about that pulled pork and grits someone had!
Our Technology Assistance Program once again awarded laptops to cancer patients and survivors who don’t have access to a reliable device. (If you are interested in being notified about future Technology Assistance Programs, click here.) Real-time closed captioning was also provided throughout the day for all attendees.
We know energy levels, schedules and more can make it challenging to attend everything you register for so if you couldn’t join us for the Conference, please check out our upcoming live Balancing Work & Cancer Webinars where you’ll find deep dives on many of the issues explored during the day. We also offer these sessions on our video archive to replay at your convenience.
We are so thankful for all the attendees who joined us. You made the day so special!
And as always, our conference simply would not be possible without the overwhelmingly generous support of our sponsors.
