Cancer and Careers hosted its 4th annual Midwest Conference on Work & Cancer, in Chicago, on Friday, March 31st — and what a day it was! To accommodate our incredible (and growing!) attendance, which jumped 16% from 2016 and 96% from our first-ever Midwest Conference, in 2014, this year’s event was held at a new venue, Northwestern Medicine’s Prentice Women’s Hospital. Our 167 attendees, which included cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, caregivers and employers, were offered dynamic and interactive presentations throughout the day, which covered everything from disclosure and privacy, working through treatment and returning to work, to managing long-term stress and health insurance options.
We think this attendee summed it up best, “I went in with an open mind and was mind blown…relevant, necessary for survivors, informational, inspiring topics delivered in a fresh interactive way.”
We are dedicated to making each year bigger and better and are looking forward to heading back to Chicago for our 5th Midwest Conference in spring 2018!
This event would not have been possible without the support of our incredible sponsors and our six community partners who helped make sure we got the word out to every corner of the region.
